Experienced Worker Practical Assessment (EWPA)
What is the Experience Worker Practical Assessment (EWPA) route?
The EWPA route is an assessment process designed to provide a quick and convenient way to check an individual’s skills and knowledge on order for them to work towards a NVQ Level 2.
Who is eligible for EWPA?
If you have at least 5 years on site experience you could be assessed in one of our training centers using the EWPA assessment method to assess your skills.
How long will the assessment take?
The overall assessment will take one day to complete by attending on of our training venues in Hoddesdon or Salford.
In the first instance we carry out a detailed profiling experience to confirm if EWPA route is an appropriate method of assessing your current skills and knowledge. If EWPA is not, we will then be able to recommend a more suitable option for you.
What is involved in the overall process?
The process will include the following:
- A Witness Testimony to verify your ability to carry out the work to the appropriate standard.
- Professional Discussion will be carried out with your appointed assessor. This an opportunity for you to explain in more detail the jobs you have completed and explain your overall knowledge for your sector. Your assessor will then map your current skills and knowledge to the units within the qualification you will be working towards.
- The assessor if there to help you collate the necessary evidence.
What happens on the day of the practical assessment?
On the day of the assessment there will be no more than 4 candidates to one assessor. The drawings and related documents will have already been forwarded to you at least 5 days before your arranged assessment date. This will allow you the opportunity to read through and prepare for your assessment.
On the day of your assessment, your appointed assessor will explain everything in more detail and you will have another opportunity to discuss and quires or concerns.
After the assessment has been completed your assessor will make judgement whether your completed tasks have met the Standards set out by National Open College Network (NOCN), the awarding body.
Feedback will be given to confirm if you have met the standards.
What happens after the assessment?
Your appointed assessor will then update and complete your portfolio, which will be passed on to our Internal Quality Assurer for quality control.
Once quality control has been completed, we will then claim for your award directly with NOCN, once this has been received, we will forward it onto you for safe keeping.
When you have also completed the relevant Working at Heights test you will be able to apply for your CSCS card.
What happens if I don’t meet the standards?
Bear in mind this is not a test but an overall assessment based on evidence collated so far, so it is unlikely you will not meet the standards.
If further evidence is required your assessor will explain and confirm in more detail and additional evidence that needs to be collated.
How much does EWPA cost?
The Experience Practical Assessment route is £895.00 +VAT.
